Dealer Tire isn't the most recognized company name among students. Headquartered in Cleveland, OH this company recently graduated from the middle market by reaching over $1 billion in annual revenue.  Reaching a growth rate of more than 500% over the past 5 years, the company has come a long ways from it's humble beginnings.

The National Center for the Middle Market sat down with Dealer Tire CEO Scott Mueller to learn how this family-owned business has grown and what it takes to be competitive in today's business environment.  Mr. Mueller and Dr. Shashi Matta of the Fisher College of Business discussed various topics, and also answered an important question: "What advice would you give students who are looking for careers right now?" Surprisingly his answer had nothing to do with the size of company.  Instead, his advice for students was to find a company that would give them the broadest experience in the least amount of time.  He explained how Dealer Tire creates a dynamic environment that is constantly forcing employees to adapt and change which allows them to develop a unique and broad skill set which is what he looks for when he evaluates potential candidates.
